Halcyon Yachts crew member, Chris Jacobs, has developed a new sailing app. The app is designed to help crew capture, relive and share their sailing experiences.
Chris had a lot of spare time during the lockdown. He wanted to find a new way of logging the yacht deliveries he has taken part in. Chris and his friend developed Sail Ties to achieve just this. The app enables them to look back on their passages in a way that is more fun than their traditional paper logbooks.
Chris says “I logged all of my Halcyon Yachts deliveries on Sail Ties last year. I love using it to share my adventures with friends and family. I look back on my delivery trips with pride. The App is also really helpful when trying to get crewing spots on other yachts. I can prove my experience in a really visual way”.
Sail Ties was launched at the beginning of March 2021. The response from the sailing community has been very positive and others are starting to sign up. The App already has thousands of nautical miles logged across 5 continents and more people are joining all the time.
Halcyon Yachts MD, Pete Green, says “This is a fantastic initiative and a really creative way for Chris to spend lockdown. Elliot Jones, one of our latest recruits, has just logged his first yacht delivery on Sail Ties, a 102 NM delivery from Torquay to Portchester. I look forward to seeing some of our other yacht deliveries up on there soon!”.
