The aptly named director of Halcyon Yachts, Pete Green, has recently furthered his commitment to environmental issues by implementing a new policy which his skippers and crew must adhere to. The new policy includes guidelines regarding fuelling, waste disposal and general conduct when both at sea and ashore.

Peter Green says “I believe that all sailors have a responsibility to protect the environment around them. We deliver both power and sail boats to some of the most beautiful destinations all over the world and I strongly feel that we must strive to ensure that they are kept this way, not only for our sake but for the sake of future generations”.

With some major new pieces of legislation recently coming into force Halcyon Yachts have decided to develop their environmental policy with the close guidance of The Green Blue, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness and reducing environmental disturbance by all of us within the yachting community.

Passionate about making a difference, Mr Green goes on to say “We have delivery crew based all over the country, many of whom are influential amongst their own yacht clubs or sailing schools. The most important thing for us as a company is to be setting an example of responsible and sustainable behaviour through all that we do. We should all think about the impact of our actions; for example how we dispose of used oil, whether we recycle whenever possible or even the type of transport we use to get to and from the yachts”.
