Halcyon Yachts has signed a renewed Service Level Agreement for 2020 for the onward yacht management of yacht BOLEH.
Yacht BOLEH is owned by the charity, The Boleh Trust. The Boleh Trust works tirelessly to inspire disadvantaged young people by their ‘can do’ story.
BOLEH is a Registered National Historic Ship and is of a unique junk rig design. Built in Singapore by Commander Robin Kilroy and a team of Malay shipwrights in 1948, she sailed to the UK the following year. Boleh spent many years in UK waters but by 2006 was languishing in the Mediterranean. In 2007 she returned to the UK. With the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund, a complete restoration was undertaken in Portsmouth. In 2015 BOLEH returned to the water and over the last 3 years has provided exciting day sailing opportunities to over 300 young people.
The renewed Agreement builds on Halcyon Yacht’s long term involvement with the Boleh project. The Service Level Agreement includes yacht management, crew services, incident management and first line support for her Sailing Programme.
Pete Green, Managing Director at Halcyon Yachts, said “We are very pleased to agree another year of yacht management services with the Boleh Trust, it is an incredible project and BOLEH is a wonderful yacht. Our shore-based operations team is really looking forward to helping facilitate the wonderful work that this charity does. We are looking forward to sharing the experiences of all those who will sail her, many of whom have never sailed before.”
George Middleton, Chairman of the Boleh Trust, said “We are delighted to be working with Halcyon Yachts given their extensive experience of yacht management, and their knowledge and experience of supporting our operations over the last 3 years. Halcyon’s professional expertise will be invaluable in developing our important charitable work, and in building a sustainable future for the Trust”.
